Are you choosing the right client?
We are seeing a lot of CSP's choosing clients, paying for the training course, and then dropping the training course or client once they certify. The main reason we hear from these CSP's on why they are dropping is "It's just not right for me". What is happening in these instances is you are wasting your time and money. You should take sometime and really think about whether or not you are ready to commit to working with a client. We expect our CSP's to commit 100% to their training course and working for their client.
There are several things you should take in to consideration before enrolling with a client. The first thing you should do is do some research. Ask other CSP's in our Facebook CSP group for their opinion on the client or how they are liking servicing the client. You can also email me and Melissa. If we don't know much about the client, we will get you in contact with someone who is currently servicing the client or used to service the client.
The next thing you should look in to is what equipment is required to service the client you are considering. This is VERY VERY important. We have seen too many people enroll in a training course and pay for it only to get dropped or have to drop the class due to not having the right equipment. I.e client supports Windows 7 only but you have Windows 8. If the client requires that you have a regular landline phone, be sure that you will be able to get a regular landline phone in your area. Every client requires that you be hard wired to the internet when servicing. This means you must have an enthernet cable connected to your modem/router and to your computer. If you only have an internet hotspot, this will not work.
Once you have made sure that you either have the supported/require equipment for the client you are looking to enroll with, you will need to look at the class times they provide for training. You need to ensure that the time you choose you are able to commit to 100% and attend the class at that same time each day. If you know that you have a prior commitment and you wont be able to attend class on a specific day at the time you are thinking about choosing, don't just assume that the trainer will accommodate your absence. Consider another time frame for training. If there is an instance where you have changed your mind on the time you would like to attend training, enrollment may be able to switch your class time within the first 3 days of training if there is room in the class you are requesting to be switched to.
The next thing you should consider is the minimum required hours that the client is requiring. Some clients require 15 hours a week, others require 20. If you know you will not be able to commit to working the required 20 hours a week, consider a client that only requires 15 hours. Sometimes, you wont be able to get your minimum required hours because the client just doesn't have the hours available. If this happens, you need to email Melissa and let her know. That way she knows why you were not able to meet the requirement. If you need to take some time off and you will not be able to work, you will need to submit a time off request in the Arise Portal.
